John (Jack) Cliff Atherton

It is with deep regret and sadness that we have to inform you that, after a brief illness, John Atherton known to many as Jack, passed away.

Our thoughts are with his family.

Perhaps it will help to lessen the sorrow of Jack\'s family to realise that so many of his friends share their grief. We all appreciated the happiness he so willingly shared and inspired in all his friends.

So very very sad to hear that you ve left us. You were a very special man and brought a smile to everyones face ( as well as the barrels of home brew after a shift at middleton. Very happy memories of you. Thanks for all your help, all those years ago( even the driving lessons!).lots of love Sara

Jack, it was a pleasure to know you as a well respected colleage and friend.I have fond memories of the trips you helped to organise, e.g. cultural exchanges etc. You can rest now, but you will be sadly missed.
